Spirit Airlines is expanding its flight offerings to Puerto Rico, providing increased accessibility to the island for travelers from the United States this spring.

Commencing May 8, the budget carrier will introduce new nonstop flights from Houston to San Juan, operating four times weekly. Additionally, on the following day, Spirit will inaugurate nonstop service from New Orleans to San Juan, available thrice weekly. Notably, this service marks the sole direct connection between these two cities.

The Houston route is scheduled for operation on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, while the New Orleans route will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

John Kirby, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, expressed enthusiasm about the forthcoming service, stating, “It will soon be easier than ever for New Orleans travelers to escape to the Island of Enchantment with Spirit’s launch of the only nonstop flight from MSY to San Juan.”

In addition to these developments, Spirit will augment its network with new flights connecting Baltimore and Boston, New Orleans, Portland (Oregon), and San Diego. These flights are slated to commence operations on May 8 or 9.

To commemorate these additions, promotional fares starting at just $41 one-way will be offered. However, travelers must avail themselves of this offer by June 5, with blackout dates in effect from May 23 to May 28.

Furthermore, Spirit will introduce new daily routes between Pittsburgh and New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA), commencing on May 8.

Spirit Airlines is renowned for its no-frills approach, offering basic tickets and charging additional fees for amenities such as baggage and seat selection. Notably, the airline provides a paid yearly membership program, the Saver$ Club, offering discounts on ancillary services, alongside a status-matching program, granting travelers access to similar perks for a fee.
