Cathay Pacific has reopened The Bridge, one of its main lounges at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), after a full redesign. The lounge is located in Terminal 1, near Departure Gate 35. It is the first lounge to reopen as part of Cathay Pacific’s new plan to improve its lounges.
This reopening starts a phased renovation of Cathay Pacific’s lounge network. Next, The Wing, First lounge will temporarily close on May 23. It is expected to reopen in 2026. After that, The Wing, Business lounge will also be renovated. While this work takes place, The Deck will serve as the temporary First Class lounge starting May 21. Passengers who qualify can also continue to use The Pier, First and The Pier, Business lounges.
The redesign of The Bridge is part of Cathay Pacific’s larger HK$100 billion investment. This money is going toward new aircraft, lounges, cabin upgrades, and digital services. Over the next two years, new flagship lounges will open in Hong Kong, Beijing, and New York.
Lounge Layout and Features
The Bridge’s redesign focuses on passenger comfort and practical use. The space uses warm colors like cherry wood, granite, and travertine. It also features home-like furniture, selected artworks, and plants to create a cozy atmosphere.
The lounge is divided into two main areas:
Left side: This area highlights Chinese cuisine. It includes the popular Noodle Bar, where guests can enjoy wonton noodles and dim sum. A new dining area called The Nook offers small dishes such as bao, scallion pancakes, and rice rolls. Seasonal salads and Chinese desserts are also available.
Right side: This section is for First Class passengers and Cathay Diamond members. It offers more privacy and access to The Food Hall. Here, guests can enjoy oven-to-plate dishes like beef bourguignon and vegetable casseroles. There is also The Bar, which overlooks the runway and serves cocktails, coffee, and wine.
Additionally, a special relaxation zone features Cathay’s signature Solo Chairs. This area provides a quiet space for guests to rest.
Check-In and Digital Experience
Soon, The Bridge will introduce biometric check-in technology. It will be the first Cathay Pacific lounge to use this system. Biometric check-in will work alongside the regular reception desk to make entering the lounge faster and easier.
Outlook
As international travel through Hong Kong continues to recover, Cathay Pacific is investing to improve the pre-flight experience. The reopening of The Bridge is an important step in this long-term plan. The airline aims to maintain consistent service and quality across all its lounges worldwide.
