Spirit Airlines Enhances Comfort with New Seats and Loyalty Perks

by Alice

Spirit Airlines is set to improve the travel experience for its passengers with new, more comfortable seating options and enhanced benefits for loyalty program members. The budget airline is introducing larger seats and adding fresh perks to its Free Spirit program, aiming to offer more premium choices to its customers.

Starting in June 2025, Spirit will revamp its “Go Comfy” fare class by adding extra-legroom seats with four more inches of space than the current seats, providing a total of 32 inches of legroom. These new seats will be installed in seven rows on each plane, totaling 40 extra-legroom spots per aircraft. The majority of the airline’s fleet is expected to be updated with the new seating by July 2025.

Passengers will be able to book these extra-legroom seats beginning May 19, with travel available starting July 9. The Go Comfy fares also include benefits like a carry-on bag, priority boarding, free changes and cancellations, a complimentary snack and non-alcoholic drink, and reserved overhead bin space.

In addition to the new seating, Spirit is enhancing its Free Spirit loyalty program with additional benefits. “We’re offering more value and perks for our loyal members, especially when other airlines are cutting back on benefits,” said Rana Ghosh, Spirit’s senior vice president and chief commercial officer.

One of the new perks includes the ability to redeem Free Spirit points for premium seats, such as Go Comfy and Go Big fares. Go Big fares, which also offer a free checked bag and Wi-Fi, are now included in the loyalty program. Frequent fliers with elite status or the Free Spirit credit card, as well as one guest on their reservation, will also receive complimentary upgrades to Spirit’s Big Front Seat or Comfy Seat, depending on availability, starting in June.

Later this year, Spirit will introduce a new co-branded card, the Free Spirit Debit Card. Cardholders will enjoy priority boarding in group two and a 25% rebate on inflight purchases. Additionally, in late 2025, holders of the Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard will receive two free checked bags.

These updates are part of Spirit Airlines’ broader strategy to offer more premium options to passengers, especially after the company emerged from bankruptcy earlier this year. As low-cost carriers face challenges from rising demand for premium travel, Spirit is working to provide more choices for budget-conscious travelers while keeping pace with shifting customer preferences.
