Hunnu Air has begun scheduled flights using the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, starting with a new service from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to Beijing Daxing International Airport in China. This flight marks the first time the E195-E2 has operated a regular route into mainland China.
To celebrate the launch, Hunnu Air, Embraer, and Beijing Daxing Airport hosted a joint ceremony. The event highlighted the growing connection between the aviation hubs of Mongolia and China. It also underlined the efforts to boost economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
The flight was operated by the first of two new Embraer E195-E2 jets delivered to Hunnu Air in April. The airline plans to use these aircraft to increase capacity on routes to Haikou, Sanya, and Phu Quoc. It also aims to expand services to Japan, Vietnam, India, South Korea, and add new scheduled flights to Tashkent.
The E195-E2 jets used by Hunnu Air feature a dual-class cabin with 136 seats arranged in a two-by-two layout. This design avoids the middle seat and offers more comfort for passengers.
Munkhjargal Purevjal, CEO of Hunnu Air, said the launch shows the airline’s goal to grow its international network. “This new route and our E195-E2 aircraft symbolize stronger ties between Mongolia and China,” he said. “We have used Embraer’s E190 aircraft since 2019. Now, the E195-E2 gives us a better tool to meet rising travel demand. It will play a key role in our long-term plans and help us improve regional connectivity.”
Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer of Embraer Commercial Aviation, also praised the partnership. “We are proud to see the E195-E2 fly in mainland China for the first time,” he said. “This shows the strong relationship between Embraer and Hunnu Air. The E2 aircraft will help Hunnu Air grow in a profitable and sustainable way, while tapping into Mongolia’s potential and connecting more parts of Asia.”
Embraer has been active in the Mongolian aviation market for several years. The company started working with local airlines in 2018, when the first Embraer aircraft, an ERJ 145, entered service in Mongolia.
The E-Jets family, which includes the E195-E2, is among the most successful regional jet programs in the world. More than 1,800 E-Jets and E-Jets E2 have been delivered to over 80 airlines in 50 countries.
