Premier Inn Expands in London with New Hub Hotel Near South Bank

by Alice

Premier Inn has announced the continued expansion of its presence in London, securing a vacant office building near the city’s South Bank area for conversion into a new hotel.

The budget hotel chain plans to transform Dorset House on Stamford Street into a 400-room “hub by Premier Inn.” However, the project is subject to planning permission, and Whitbread, Premier Inn’s parent company, has not yet disclosed an opening date for the hotel.

Launched in 2014, the “hub by Premier Inn” sub-brand focuses on offering compact rooms in city centre locations. Unlike the traditional Premier Inn properties, these hubs are designed for guests seeking affordable stays in central urban areas.

Currently, 15 hub by Premier Inn hotels are operational in London, with more planned. The company has already confirmed a new 693-room hub by Premier Inn near Trafalgar Square, alongside additional sites in the City of London and Holborn.

Derek Griffin, Whitbread’s head of acquisitions, commented on the expansion: “Since opening our first hub by Premier Inn in Covent Garden in 2014, we’ve successfully built a network of 18 hotels in London and Edinburgh. These hotels provide affordable options for guests in prime city centre locations. With Dorset House, we’ve found an ideal opportunity south of the river. Its close proximity to Waterloo and Blackfriars stations, as well as the vibrant South Bank area, makes it a prime location for both business and leisure travelers.”

This latest project signals Premier Inn’s ongoing commitment to expanding its footprint in London, offering more options for affordable, central accommodations.
