Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), also known as Nancy-Bird Walton Airport, has invited restaurants, cafes, bars, and other hospitality businesses to join its retail and dining precinct within the terminal. The airport, set to open in late 2026, aims to offer a range of world-class dining options for travellers around the clock.
Simon Hickey, CEO of WSI, expressed excitement about the ongoing progress at the airport. “With major construction nearly finished, we are shifting our focus to asset testing, live trials, and preparing for commercial operations. It’s an exciting time for us,” Hickey said.
As part of its preparations, the airport is expanding its retail and hospitality offerings. Hickey highlighted the importance of providing travellers with food and drink options after passing through security. “After checking in, many passengers look for a place to relax and enjoy a meal or drink before their flight. We want to offer a variety of dining experiences that will enhance their journey,” he explained.
WSI will be Sydney’s first 24-hour international airport, and Hickey emphasized the airport’s connection to the fast-growing Western Sydney region, which is known for its diversity. “We want to bring businesses that reflect the vibrancy of our local community while offering global and Australian food trends,” he added.
The airport will feature over 20 dining locations across approximately 2,300 square meters of retail space. WSI is actively seeking hospitality businesses interested in establishing operations within the airport, contributing to the new experience that will cater to the millions of passengers expected to pass through the terminal once it opens.
