Alaska Airlines is taking bold steps to expand its global presence by announcing a new partnership with Philippine Airlines and the launch of a soon-to-be-revealed nonstop route to Europe from Seattle.
This new alliance marks the addition of Philippine Airlines as Alaska’s 32nd global partner. With this collaboration, members of both airlines’ loyalty programs will soon be able to earn and redeem miles across each other’s networks.
Brett Catlin, vice president of loyalty, alliances, and sales at Alaska Airlines, shared his excitement, stating, “Philippine Airlines is a fantastic addition to our list of global partners, offering excellent service and amenities. This is great news for the large Filipino communities in Hawaii, California, and Washington, as it will provide them with easier access to the Philippines and reward them for their travels.”
Alaska Airlines Eyes Europe for Expansion
In addition to the partnership, Alaska Airlines is also preparing to launch its first-ever transatlantic flight. CEO Ben Minicucci confirmed that the airline will introduce a nonstop route from Seattle to a European city in 2026. Although the specific destination has not yet been revealed, this move highlights Alaska’s commitment to expanding its long-haul international services.
Thanks to its recent merger with Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska now has access to Airbus A330 widebody aircraft, which are capable of serving international destinations. The airline also plans to add Boeing 787 Dreamliners to its fleet by 2028.
Minicucci emphasized the airline’s growth potential, saying, “With all these resources at our disposal, we have the ability to expand to nearly any destination from Seattle.”
The exact European city for the new route remains a mystery, but the announcement signals exciting plans for Alaska Airlines’ international future.
