The Port Authority of New South Wales has announced the appointment of John McKenna as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. This appointment follows the NSW Government’s decision to officially name McKenna to the role.
David Marchant, the chair of the Port Authority, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to officially appoint John McKenna as the CEO. His leadership, extensive knowledge of the business, and forward-thinking vision will be crucial as the Port Authority continues to grow.”
Marchant added that McKenna had already made a significant impact as Acting CEO. “We are confident he will guide the organization through its next phase of growth and innovation. We look forward to his leadership in ensuring that the Port Authority remains central to NSW’s trade and tourism sectors,” he said.
McKenna brings a wealth of commercial experience to the role, along with a thorough understanding of the Port Authority’s operations. Before being appointed CEO, he served as the Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, where he played a key role in the development of the Authority’s commercial and customer divisions.
In his statement, McKenna expressed his honor at being appointed CEO. “It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated team that plays a vital role in supporting the state’s trade, driving tourism growth, and ensuring our ports operate smoothly around the clock,” McKenna said.
“I’m excited for the journey ahead, as we position the Port Authority for sustainable growth and continued excellence. I look forward to serving the people of NSW and contributing to the ongoing growth of our economy and community,” he added.
