U.S. summer travel to Europe is set to increase by 10% in 2025, according to a report from Allianz Partners USA. This marks the fourth straight year of rising interest in European destinations among American travelers.
The report lists the top European destinations for U.S. tourists. London, England remains the most popular, followed by Paris, France, and Dublin, Ireland. These cities continue to draw large numbers of American visitors.
Other cities rounding out the top five include Rome, Italy, and Edinburgh, Scotland. Other popular destinations include Reykjavik, Iceland; Barcelona, Spain; Amsterdam, Netherlands; and Nice, France.
A notable change in this year’s report is the reappearance of Lisbon, Portugal, which replaces Athens, Greece, in the top ten. However, the rest of the list remains largely unchanged from the previous year.
Allianz Partners USA gathered this data by analyzing the number of customers who booked airfares and travel packages through partners offering Allianz Global Assistance travel insurance. The analysis focused on round-trip flights from U.S. airports for trips between 5 and 8 days in length, scheduled for travel between May 22, 2024, and September 2, 2024. The study reviewed nearly seven million itineraries.
The report indicates a growing trend of U.S. travelers exploring Europe during the summer months. This increase may be driven by factors such as favorable travel conditions and rising cultural interest in the region.
