Vietnam Airlines has officially introduced direct flights between Hyderabad and Hanoi, marking a significant expansion of its presence in India. The new route, which began on May 7, 2025, is the airline’s fourth gateway in India, following Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. This direct service will operate three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, further strengthening the connection between India and Vietnam.
To celebrate the launch, a special event was held at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. The ceremony featured traditional welcome rituals and a ribbon-cutting to commemorate the arrival of the airline’s first flight. Passengers were welcomed with souvenirs, showcasing the airline’s signature hospitality.
In addition, Vietnam Airlines hosted a luncheon at ITC Kohenur for key travel agents and industry partners from Hyderabad. The event offered a valuable networking platform to foster future collaborations and partnerships within the region.
During the launch event, Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Country Manager for India at Vietnam Airlines, spoke about the airline’s continued growth in India. He emphasized Hyderabad’s importance as a dynamic and rapidly growing city, highlighting its cultural heritage and tech-driven economy. “This new route underscores our commitment to expanding our network in India and enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and India,” he said. “We are excited to offer our signature service to travelers on this new route.”
Vietnam Airlines, the national carrier of Vietnam and a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, is known for its modern fleet and award-winning service. This new route strengthens its efforts to connect India and Vietnam and boost tourism between the two countries.

Hanoi, known for its rich history and vibrant culture, offers visitors a mix of ancient traditions and modern attractions. The city’s well-preserved Old Quarter, historic temples, and bustling street food culture make it a must-visit destination. Visitors can also explore Vietnam’s natural wonders, such as Ha Long Bay, Sapa, and Ninh Binh.
Mr. Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GHIAL (GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited), expressed his enthusiasm for the new route. “This direct flight service is a response to the growing demand for travel to Vietnam, which is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Indian travelers,” he said. “The new connection will enhance travel options for both leisure and business travelers from South India and surrounding regions, further strengthening ties between our cultures.”
The direct flights are expected to boost tourism in both directions, offering Indian travelers easy access to Vietnam’s cultural and natural wonders while allowing Vietnamese visitors to explore Hyderabad’s historical and modern offerings. Indian travelers can take advantage of Vietnam’s simplified visa process, including pre-approved visa-on-arrival and e-visa options.
