Air Canada Expands Winter Services to Latin America with New Routes

Air Canada has unveiled its winter schedule for the 2025-26 season, marking its largest-ever network expansion to Latin America. The airline is offering a 16% increase in seat capacity compared to last winter. Among the highlights of the new services are flights to Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City, and Guadalajara.

In addition, Air Canada is launching 13 new routes to destinations like Santiago, Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Nassau, Montego Bay, and Huatulco. The carrier is also increasing the frequency of flights to popular vacation spots, bringing the total to over 55 daily flights and more than 80,000 seats available each week.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion. “We are excited to introduce Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City, and Guadalajara to our network, while also increasing service to Santiago with new flights from Montreal. This expansion aligns with our New Frontiers strategy, designed to meet the needs of both Canadian and international travelers, as well as capitalize on growing cargo opportunities.”

Galardo also highlighted the addition of new winter routes from Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa, and Vancouver to various destinations in the Bahamas, Jamaica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Mexico. Additionally, the airline is boosting capacity to popular sun destinations.

Marcelo Freixo, President of Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Board), noted the appeal of Rio de Janeiro as a destination. “Rio de Janeiro is a unique place, offering everything from hiking and ocean swimming to Afro-Brazilian culture, stunning landscapes, and diverse gastronomy. The relaunch of this route meets the growing demand from Canadian travelers seeking authentic and sustainable experiences. We remain committed to strengthening connections between Brazil and Canada,” he said.
