Disneyland Resort has upgraded the entry process at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. The familiar turnstiles, long a staple of the parks, have now been replaced with automated, photo-based entry gates.
How the New System Works
Guests must have a valid ticket and a theme park reservation. Once they arrive at the esplanade between the two parks, they will scan their ticket at a screen. Then, they will take a photo using the built-in camera at the gate. Each member of a group or family can take their photo individually.
The new camera system automatically adjusts for different heights, making it easy for children to use. After the ticket is scanned and the photo is linked to the guest’s ticket, the gate doors will open. The entire group can then enter the park together.
Guests using multi-day tickets or holding a Magic Key pass only need to take a photo once. That same image will be used for the entire duration of their visit.
Improved Accessibility and Convenience
The updated gates are also designed for better accessibility. Visitors using wheelchairs, Electronic Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs), or strollers can move through the gates more easily. Additionally, MagicBand+ users can tap their device at a designated spot for a quick, hands-free entry.
Alternate Entry Points for Eligible Guests
Some guests with valid admission and park reservations can also enter the parks through special access points:
- Disneyland Monorail (Downtown Disney): Guests can board the monorail and enter directly into Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park.
- Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa: Hotel guests can use the private entrance to Disney California Adventure near Grizzly Peak.
- Pixar Place Hotel Entrance: Guests staying at Pixar Place Hotel can access Disney California Adventure near Goofy’s Sky School.
These changes are designed to improve efficiency and enhance the guest experience. Disneyland says the new system helps reduce wait times and makes entry smoother for everyone.
