Queensland Tourism Industry Council Extends Deadline for 2025 Tourism Awards Nominations

by Alice

The Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) has extended the deadline for nominations for the 2025 Queensland Tourism Awards, offering tourism operators additional time to submit their entries for the prestigious industry honors.

Due to a busy period of public holidays, long weekends, the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE25), and Magic Round in Brisbane, QTIC has pushed back the deadline to Thursday, 23 May 2025. This extension aims to give operators a fair chance to participate despite the demanding schedule.

Now celebrating its 40th year, the Queensland Tourism Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of the state’s tourism operators, businesses, individuals, and events across various categories.

“For four decades, these awards have celebrated the passion and commitment that drive our industry forward,” said Natassia Wheeler, QTIC’s Chief Executive Officer. “We’re excited to continue this tradition in 2025 as we mark 40 years of honoring the best in Queensland tourism.”

Wheeler acknowledged the challenges faced by operators, particularly with ongoing flood recovery efforts, the recent ATE conference, post-event familiarization trips, and other significant events. She emphasized that the deadline extension would ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to participate.

The Queensland Tourism Awards Gala Ceremony is the centerpiece of Tourism Week, which also includes the Destination IQ and DestinationQ Forums. These events attract over 1,000 delegates who come together to exchange ideas, discover opportunities, and celebrate the achievements of the industry.

“Tourism Week is a time for the industry to unite—not just to celebrate but to shape the future of Queensland tourism,” Wheeler added. “The Gala Ceremony is a memorable and inspiring event that highlights those who go above and beyond.”

The awards program features 30 categories, including the RACQ People’s Choice Award, where the public can vote for their favorite finalist. The gold winners will represent Queensland at the Australian Tourism Awards, competing nationally under the Australian Tourism Industry Council’s framework.

The judging process for the awards remains thorough and impartial, ensuring that winners are selected based on excellence in delivering exceptional visitor experiences.
