The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) recently concluded seven large-scale trade fairs in late April 2025. The events, which covered a range of sectors including lifestyle products, fashion, printing, packaging, and intellectual property licensing, attracted nearly 100,000 buyers from 131 countries and regions. This demonstrates ongoing international confidence in Hong Kong as a key global trade and business hub.
Over 6,000 exhibitors from more than 30 countries participated in the fairs. The events included the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, Home InStyle, Fashion InStyle, Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair, DeLuxe PrintPack Hong Kong, Hong Kong International Licensing Show (HKILS), and the Asian Licensing Conference (ALC).
Event Highlights and Attendance
- The Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair welcomed 36,000 buyers.
- Home InStyle attracted 20,000 buyers.
- Fashion InStyle saw 11,000 buyers.
- The Printing & Packaging Fair and DeLuxe PrintPack brought in a combined 11,000 buyers.
- HKILS and ALC together engaged 20,000 buyers and stakeholders.
Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of HKTDC, noted that despite global economic challenges, the fairs successfully fostered cross-sector engagement. She highlighted that the events also helped exhibitors expand into growth markets such as the ASEAN region and the Middle East.
Buyer and Market Trends
A survey conducted at three of the events—Gifts & Premium, Home InStyle, and Fashion InStyle—gathered responses from 1,583 industry participants. Key findings include:
- 49.2% of respondents expect sales growth in the next 1–2 years, while 44.5% anticipate stable sales.
- The top target markets are Mainland China, India, Taiwan, Korea, and ASEAN countries.
- High-growth product categories identified include cultural and tech gifts, smart home products, women’s fashion, and fashion accessories.
Buyers from Mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and other international regions were actively involved in sourcing and negotiations during the events.
International Business Connections
The trade fairs led to significant business deals. A German buyer placed potential orders worth US$2.8 million, and a long-time Hong Kong exhibitor secured US$500,000 in sales from the Asian market. Additionally, other deals ranged from cultural licensing agreements to sustainable packaging purchases, highlighting the fairs’ ability to generate concrete business outcomes.
Focus on Creativity, Sustainability, and Innovation
The new NEXT@Fashion InStyle zone, which focused on sustainable materials and innovation, connected buyers with emerging suppliers. There was also strong interest in cultural and creative product showcases, especially from buyers in Japan, the US, and Southeast Asia.
In the licensing sector, HKILS hosted successful intellectual property (IP) collaborations, including a deal for the performance of Panda the Musical in Hong Kong and Macao, worth RMB 2 million.
Integration of Digital and Physical Platforms
The HKTDC’s EXHIBITION+ hybrid model enabled online business matching before, during, and after the physical events. This provided extended opportunities for engagement between buyers and exhibitors.
The success of these seven events reinforces Hong Kong’s continued role as a key trade gateway for Asia and beyond. They supported multiple industries by offering cross-border, cross-sector business opportunities.
