Virgin Hotels has officially opened its first London property, Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch, following an extensive refurbishment.
Formerly known as Mondrian Shoreditch, the hotel debuted under its new branding in August 2024. The 120-room hotel has since undergone renovations to enhance its offerings.
Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, expressed his excitement about the opening, saying, “It’s a beautiful hotel in the heart of the capital. It’s fantastic that when travelers step off our planes in London, they now have somewhere to rest their head, and the wonderful Virgin experience continues. London is where we started Virgin more than 50 years ago, and it feels really special to mark the opening of our first hotel here.”
The revamped hotel boasts a range of modern amenities, including new suites, a rooftop pool, a restaurant and club, a gym, and the Hidden Grooves bar. The bar, inspired by Virgin Records’ legacy, offers rare records and album-themed cocktails.
Branson added, “It’s a tribute to Virgin’s music roots. We built our name on records—now inside our beautiful new hotel, we’ve created a space where people can enjoy them again.”
In the coming weeks, Virgin Hotels plans to unveil a new signature restaurant at the Shoreditch location.
