Hapag-Lloyd Cruises Announces First Extended Weddell Sea Expedition for 2025/2026 Antarctic Season

by Alice

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has unveiled its first-ever extended Weddell Sea Expedition, set for the 2025/2026 Antarctic season. This new route, aboard the HANSEATIC Spirit, emphasizes the company’s leadership in luxury expedition travel and its commitment to offering guests access to some of the world’s most remote destinations.

The extended Weddell Sea voyage will explore the eastern Antarctic Peninsula, an area known for its thick ice, towering icebergs, and rich history of polar exploration. Key stops include Paulet and Devil Islands, which are linked to the 1903 Nordenskjöld expedition and are home to large colonies of Adelie penguins. The journey will also trace key moments from early exploration, such as Shackleton’s famous 1915 Endurance mission, offering ample opportunities for wildlife viewing and Zodiac excursions.
