Jetstar customers across the Asia Pacific region are set to benefit from an expanded partnership with aviation services company dnata, as the two firms extend their collaboration for another four years.
The renewed contract not only continues dnata’s services for Jetstar Airways in Australia and New Zealand but also expands support to Jetstar Asia, which operates out of Singapore, and Jetstar Japan.
Under the agreement, dnata will continue to provide retail and catering services across Jetstar’s network. This includes a range of pre-order and buy-on-board food and beverage options designed to suit the needs of millions of passengers each year.
Lou D’Alessio, Chief Retail Officer at dnata Catering & Retail Australia, said the company is committed to delivering high-quality services. “The ever-changing inflight retail trends make data analysis crucial for developing and evolving menus based on customer feedback and sales,” he said. “We’re committed to sourcing high-quality products and constantly enhancing our offering. We look forward to continuing to support and deliver on Jetstar’s ambitious growth plans as a key partner in Australia.”
The announcement comes as dnata increases its investment in Australia’s aviation catering infrastructure. The company is currently building a new AUS$17 million inflight catering centre at Western Sydney International Airport (Nancy-Bird Walton), which will be able to produce up to three million meals each year.
In addition, dnata has partnered with Melbourne Airport to expand its existing catering facility. This project, which involves an AUS$50 million investment, will increase production capacity to more than 25 million meals per year. The new development is expected to help dnata meet growing demand and deliver innovative catering solutions to its airline partners.
dnata serves over 40 airline customers in Australia, including Jetstar. It operates at nine airports across the country and employs more than 4,000 hospitality professionals. In the 2023–24 financial year, dnata Catering & Retail Australia provided over 50 million meals for more than 300,000 flights.
So far in 2024, dnata has invested more than AUS$200 million in products sourced from local Australian suppliers, further strengthening its commitment to quality and sustainability.
Globally, dnata is a major player in inflight catering and retail. Its catering and retail division serves over 110 million meals each year, working with full-service, low-cost, and VIP airlines at more than 60 locations worldwide.
