Qashio has launched a new payment platform aimed at the travel industry, developed in partnership with global payments leader Visa. The platform, called Qashio for Travel, was officially introduced at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 in Dubai.
The new system is designed to fix common financial problems faced by travel companies. These include delays in payment reconciliation, risks from foreign exchange rates, and challenges managing cash flow and card spending.
Qashio for Travel is intended for businesses such as online travel agencies, destination management companies, and corporate travel teams. It allows these firms to create virtual cards for each Passenger Name Record (PNR), set specific spending limits, and track transactions in real time.
Payments can be made in multiple currencies, including the UAE dirham (AED), Saudi riyal (SAR), US dollar (USD), euro (EUR), and British pound (GBP). This helps travel companies control spending across borders and reduce their need for manual accounting processes.
Tackling Industry Challenges
One key feature is automated reconciliation. This replaces slow, manual processes with faster, more accurate financial tracking. The platform also offers rebates on transactions and lets users monitor spending by trip. These tools help businesses manage cash flow more effectively.
The launch comes as the UAE continues its push toward a digital economy and sees rapid growth in its tourism sector. Travel and tourism are expected to contribute about USD 100 billion to the country’s economy. Already, international tourists have spent around USD 51.9 billion, ranking the UAE sixth in global visitor spending.
Qashio said the platform meets the needs of fast-moving travel firms that want more control and clarity in their finances. Visa officials also stressed the importance of improving payment systems in a region where tourism is a major part of economic growth.
Part of a Broader Partnership
This launch follows an earlier collaboration between Qashio and Visa. Earlier this year, they introduced the Visa Commercial Choice Travel programme. The initiative committed over AED 100 million to support travel businesses across the UAE, MENA, Europe, and the UK.
That earlier effort allowed Qashio to offer cards in multiple currencies and connect with global distribution systems (GDS). The goal was to boost automation and improve payment security for travel firms.
