Johor is enhancing its tourism collaboration with Singapore through a series of initiatives aimed at boosting cross-border travel and enriching visitor experiences. The Johor Economic, Tourism, and Cultural Office (JETCO) in Singapore has been leading these efforts. At a B2B Table Talk Session on April 22, key trade partners discussed the growing synergy between Johor and Singapore’s tourism sectors.
In his opening speech, YB Dato’ Hasni Mohammad, Executive Chairman of JETCO, highlighted the strong relationship between Johor and Singapore. He said, “Johor and Singapore share more than just a border—we share a vision for tourism growth. JETCO is here to turn that vision into reality. We aim to attract more tourists, turning short visits into longer stays and repeat trips.”
JETCO was established to promote Johor as a preferred destination for both Singaporean and international tourists. The office provides market insights, promotional support, and connects trade partners to Johor’s best offerings.
Johor: A Gateway for Singaporean and International Tourists
Johor offers numerous opportunities for both Singaporean and international tourists:
- For Singaporeans, Johor is just a short drive away, offering world-class resorts like Desaru Coast, exciting theme parks like Legoland and Sunway X-Park, and affordable dining, shopping, and leisure options.
- For international visitors, Johor provides a perfect escape from the busy Singapore scene. With pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and a rich cultural heritage, Johor is a great addition to any Southeast Asian itinerary.
Johor is also a prime destination for golf enthusiasts. The state boasts 27 world-class golf courses, attracting players from Singapore and around the world. With beautiful landscapes and top-tier hospitality, Johor is a major hub for golf tourism.
New Cross-Border Tourism Initiatives
During the session, the Chairman praised the trade partners for their commitment to several important initiatives, including:
- Digital Tourist Counter at Suntec City: In partnership with WTS Travel, this service will offer real-time travel information and booking options for visitors heading to Johor from one of Singapore’s busiest retail hubs.
- Johor Tourism Ambassador Program: In collaboration with Les Clefs d’Or Singapore and the Concierge Association Singapore, this program will equip concierge professionals with detailed knowledge of Johor’s attractions, helping to guide more visitors to the state.
These initiatives are part of Johor’s broader strategy to strengthen its tourism ties with Singapore, especially in preparation for Visit Johor Year 2026, which is expected to bring a significant influx of international tourists.
