Minor Hotels has appointed Yun Bai as the new general manager for Queen’s Wharf Residences, marking a significant milestone for the waterfront development in Brisbane. This new property is the only apartment-style hotel in the area, situated in one of Brisbane’s most exciting and luxurious precincts.
Yun Bai brings a wealth of experience in Australia’s hospitality sector. She has spent nearly eight years with Minor Hotels and has an extensive background with Stamford Hotels & Resorts. In her most recent role, she served as the cluster general manager for Brisbane Central, and previously as the pre-opening hotel manager at Oaks Hotel Cairns and hotel manager at Oaks Brisbane on Charlotte Suites, among other leadership positions.
Known for her passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences, Bai’s proven success and ability to build strong relationships with both guests and colleagues make her an ideal choice for the role. Her leadership will be crucial in setting high standards for the new property and maximizing its potential within Brisbane’s thriving hospitality market.
Craig Hooley, Minor Hotels’ chief operating officer, expressed confidence in Bai’s leadership abilities. “Yun has an outstanding track record of driving success and fostering exceptional guest experiences. Her commitment to innovation, strong performance culture, and team development will be key to positioning Queen’s Wharf Residences as a prominent hotel in our Brisbane portfolio.”
Hooley also highlighted Brisbane’s growing appeal as a hub for international travelers, particularly with the upcoming 2032 Olympics. He noted, “Queen’s Wharf is a world-class development that will enhance the city’s profile, attracting tourists, businesses, and investors alike.”
Yun Bai shared her excitement about the new role, citing her lifelong connection to hospitality. “My mother has worked in hospitality for decades, so I’ve been immersed in the industry from a young age,” Bai said. “What I love about hospitality is how dynamic it is. There’s always something new to learn and adapt to, and that constant evolution keeps me motivated. I’ve been fortunate to learn from great leaders throughout my career, and I aim to lead with the same passion and dedication.”
Bai also emphasized the importance of mentorship in building future hospitality leaders. “Creating unforgettable moments for guests is incredibly rewarding,” she said. “I’m proud to lead the team at Queen’s Wharf Residences, where we will nurture a culture of excellence, support, and growth.”
Queen’s Wharf Residences, located along the Brisbane River, is designed to offer a premium, home-like experience for both leisure and business guests, including long-term stays. The hotel features one, two, and three-bedroom suites, all with fully equipped kitchens and laundry facilities.
