Alicante-Elche Airport has made a strong start to 2025, setting three new records in the first quarter and preparing for a busy summer season. The momentum is expected to continue as airlines announce plans to increase their routes, not just for the summer, but also for the upcoming winter season.
New destinations such as Belgrade (Wizz Air), Athens (EasyJet), Linz and Salzburg (Ryanair), and Chisinau (FlyOne and Sky Up) are gaining attention. However, routes to key cities in Central Europe remain a priority. Dutch budget airline Transavia, the sixth-largest carrier at the airport in 2024 with 833,000 passengers, has announced a major expansion for the winter 2025/26 season.
Starting on April 16, Transavia began selling tickets for its winter schedule, which runs from November 2025 to March 2026. The airline will increase the frequency of flights to several cities from Alicante-Elche.
Key Changes to Transavia’s Winter Schedule:
Eindhoven: The number of flights will increase to 12 per week, up from 10. The route will offer twice-daily services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with departures at 11:05 and 19:20.
Rotterdam: Flights will also increase to 12 per week, with two daily departures on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 10:15 and 19:30.
Brussels: The number of flights will rise to nine per week, with double departures on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:20 and 19:20. Evening flights will operate on other days.
Paris-Orly: Service will expand to eight weekly flights, up from six last winter. Transavia will operate two daily flights on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays, with departure times varying between 11:00 and 19:00.
These expanded services will provide more travel options and increase competition on popular routes. Transavia will compete with Vueling on the Paris-Orly route, with Ryanair on the Eindhoven route, and with Vueling, TUI Fly, and Brussels Airlines on the Brussels route.
With this expanded winter schedule, Transavia strengthens its position at Alicante-Elche Airport, further establishing the airport as an important hub for European travel, even during the off-peak season.
