HK Express Launches Direct Flights Between Hong Kong and Komatsu

by Alice

HK Express has officially launched a direct flight service between Hong Kong and Komatsu Airport (KMQ) in Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture. The new route will operate three times a week and offers a quicker and more convenient option for travelers to access the Hokuriku region, eliminating the need for connecting flights via Tokyo. The flight duration is approximately four hours.

This marks HK Express’s third route to Japan in 2025, bringing the total number of Japanese destinations served by the airline to 12. The move strengthens the airline’s presence in Japan, particularly in the culturally rich but less-visited Hokuriku region.

Komatsu Airport is located near Kanazawa, a city known for its historical sites, including the Higashi Chaya District. Visitors can also explore popular hot spring towns and enjoy fresh seafood along the coast. The region’s slower pace of life offers a more peaceful, culturally immersive alternative to Japan’s larger cities.

Jeanette Mao, CEO of HK Express, stated that the new route is part of the airline’s strategy to enhance flexibility and connectivity within Japan. By adding Komatsu, the airline aims to provide Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area residents with easier access to Japan’s regional destinations without the need for connecting flights through major hubs.

In addition, HK Express’s network allows for Open Jaw itineraries, meaning passengers can fly into Komatsu and return from other cities like Osaka or Tokyo. This option is tailored to travelers interested in exploring multiple cities.

The airline’s partnership with Cathay Pacific further expands travel options, allowing passengers to connect to long-haul international flights through Hong Kong.

The new direct service to Komatsu is expected to boost regional tourism and offer travel professionals more options when planning trips for clients who want to experience Japan beyond its major airports.
