Carnival Cruise Line has officially shut down rumors that teenagers can attend adults-only comedy shows with a parent’s permission. The cruise line’s brand ambassador, John Heald, took to Facebook to clarify the policy after a YouTuber falsely claimed that 15-year-olds could get into R-rated comedy performances if they had a signed waiver.
Heald made the cruise line’s stance crystal clear: “We do not have a waiver for 15-year-olds to watch adults-only comedy shows. This is not correct. Please don’t ask for one on the ship—it doesn’t exist.” The announcement was met with overwhelming support from Carnival passengers, many of whom believe these late-night shows should remain strictly for adults due to mature content and the presence of alcohol.
While minors can’t attend the adult comedy performances, Carnival does offer family-friendly comedy shows earlier in the evening. These versions are open to all ages, ensuring that younger guests still get to enjoy live comedy without exposure to inappropriate material. The cruise line recommends checking the Carnival Hub App or the daily Fun Times newsletter for show schedules.
The discussion about age restrictions didn’t stop at comedy shows. Some Carnival passengers are also pushing for stricter rules around hot tub usage, arguing that children should not be allowed in them at all. Currently, the cruise line enforces age limits in certain areas, such as the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat (21+) and some other hot tubs (18+). However, many guests believe all hot tubs should be adults-only to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
Carnival’s firm stance on age policies highlights its commitment to providing the right experience for different guest demographics. While families have plenty of onboard entertainment options, the cruise line ensures that adult-only spaces—whether comedy clubs or relaxation areas—remain exclusive to grown-ups.
