South Korea’s tourism industry experienced a major surge in February 2025. The number of international visitors rose sharply compared to previous months. Travelers from China, Japan, and the United States led the growth.
Official data shows a strong rebound in tourism after recent challenges. Chinese tourists returned in large numbers, boosting retail and hospitality sectors. Japanese visitors also increased significantly, with many drawn to cultural attractions. Meanwhile, American travelers showed rising interest in South Korea’s cities and scenic destinations.
Experts credit eased travel policies and improved airline connectivity for the uptick. Major festivals and K-pop events also played a role. Local businesses reported higher sales, especially in shopping districts like Myeongdong and Hongdae.
The government expects the positive trend to continue. More promotions and visa simplifications are planned to attract even more tourists. If the momentum holds, 2025 could become a record-breaking year for South Korea’s tourism industry.
