Adventure tour company Intrepid Travel is gearing up for major expansion after reporting strong financial results. CEO James Thornton plans to unveil an updated 2030 strategy later this year as the company builds on its successful pandemic recovery.
The Melbourne-based firm saw revenue grow 40 percent last year. It now aims to reach nearly $800 million in annual sales. Customer and staff satisfaction scores hit record highs while the company maintained its commitment to sustainable travel.
French investor Genairgy bought a 30 percent stake in 2022, helping fund Intrepid’s global expansion. Founders Darrell Wade and Geoff Manchester kept majority ownership and still help guide the business.
Intrepid has boosted its profile through sports sponsorships and advertising campaigns in Australia, North America and Europe. These efforts helped the company attract more travelers from key markets like London and New York.
“We have big plans to grow further,” Thornton said. The upcoming strategy update will focus on building recent successes while staying true to Intrepid’s values of authentic, responsible travel.
