Ryanair is launching a new summer route from Liverpool to Budapest later this month, with one-way fares starting at just £14.99. The flights will be available until October.
Budapest, known for its stunning architecture and famous thermal baths, has become a top tourist destination. It’s also popular among stag parties due to its affordable nightlife.
The city, which Condé Nast describes as “vibrant and romantically tender,” consistently ranks as one of Europe’s most budget-friendly destinations. According to the Post Office City Cost Barometer, Budapest is currently the seventh most affordable city for a weekend break in Europe.
For two people staying in a hotel, a weekend in Budapest costs around £310 on average. A pint of beer in the city ranges from £1.50 to £3, and a typical meal will cost between £5 and £10.
Modern Budapest is made up of three cities: Buda, Óbuda, and Pest, which officially merged in 1873. The city has a rich history, from its origins as a Celtic settlement to becoming a center of Renaissance culture in the 15th century.
Situated on the Danube River, which flows through several European countries, Budapest is home to Hungary’s largest building, the neo-Gothic Parliament Building, which houses the country’s crown jewels. Other key historical attractions include the Castle District and the Szechenyi National Library.
For history enthusiasts, the House of Terror Museum provides a look into the dark period of World War II, housed in the building that once served as the Nazi headquarters.
Food lovers will also find plenty to enjoy in Budapest, with its array of markets, bars, and cafes. The city is known for its beautiful cafes, some of the most stunning in the world.
Visitors can also take advantage of a range of visitor passes, valid from 24 hours to five days, offering benefits like free public transport, hiking, and entry to over 30 attractions, including the famous thermal baths.
