The Ritz-Carlton has officially opened its first hotel in Suzhou, a historic city in China’s Jiangsu province near Shanghai. Located in the scenic Gusu District, the new hotel brings the brand’s signature luxury, timeless elegance, and immersive cultural experiences to one of China’s most iconic destinations.

Known as the “Venice of the East,” Suzhou is celebrated for its 1,000-year history and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Grand Canal and the Classical Gardens of Suzhou. The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou is ideally situated in the heart of the city, within walking distance of popular attractions like the Lingering Garden, Xiyuan Temple, and Shantang Street. The hotel offers 190 spacious guest rooms and suites, including 57 luxurious suites measuring 86 square meters. Each room features a minimalist design inspired by Suzhou’s architecture, with crisp black lines on white surfaces and traditional embroideries depicting bridges and streams. The Ritz-Carlton Suite, spanning 306 square meters, includes a private terrace with panoramic views of the city and its iconic gardens. Guests staying in Club rooms and suites can access the exclusive Ritz-Carlton Club, which offers a sophisticated space for relaxation and cultural activities.

The hotel’s three dining venues highlight The Ritz-Carlton’s culinary expertise while celebrating Suzhou’s vibrant food culture. Alkanna, the specialty restaurant, serves modern bistro dishes and oven-grilled steaks. Feng Pan Ting, a Chinese tea lounge, showcases Suzhou’s tea culture with masterful performances and afternoon tea. Biao Xia, the Chinese restaurant, specializes in Huaiyang cuisine, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create dishes that reflect the region’s culinary traditions.
