Hong Kong Unveils Tourism Development Blueprint 2.0 at PATA Networking Event

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in partnership with Exhibition Group and Plaza Premium Group, hosted the PATA Power of Networking and Luncheon 2025 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The event gathered over 20 key figures from Hong Kong’s travel and tourism sector, including representatives from the Tourism Commission, Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau, the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Shangri-La Group, Trip.com, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management.

Hong Kong’s Tourism Blueprint 2.0

A key moment of the event was a keynote speech by Angelina Cheung, JP, Commissioner for Tourism of the HKSAR Government. She introduced the “Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0,” a strategic plan aimed at solidifying Hong Kong’s status as a world-class tourism destination. The plan emphasizes the integration of tourism with culture, sports, ecology, and mega events.

Following her speech, Ms. Cheung participated in a fireside chat and a Q&A session, engaging with industry stakeholders on Hong Kong’s tourism outlook.

The event also welcomed PATA Ambassador for Greater China, Soon-Hwa Wong, reinforcing PATA’s commitment to collaborating with tourism partners in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Hong Kong Holiday & Travel Expo 2025 Sees Record Visitors

After the networking luncheon, attendees joined the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Holiday & Travel Expo 2025, a major business-to-consumer (B2C) event featuring over 300 booths. The four-day expo recorded an impressive 250,000 visitors, marking a 27% increase in foot traffic compared to the previous year.

Industry Leaders Highlight Collaboration

Speaking at the event, Soon-Hwa Wong emphasized the importance of industry collaboration. He stated, “The PATA Power of Networking event provides a crucial platform for travel and tourism leaders to connect, collaborate, and shape the future of the industry in the Asia-Pacific region.”

He added that PATA is committed to fostering public-private partnerships to drive tourism growth and resilience in Hong Kong.

Stephen SY Wong, Partner at Exhibition Group, underscored the importance of working together to advance the industry. He said, “Today’s luncheon reflects the collaborative spirit needed to push Hong Kong’s tourism forward. The insights from the ‘Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0’ will guide us toward future growth.”

Linda Song, Executive Director at Plaza Premium Group, also highlighted the role of partnerships in the industry’s development. She noted, “Our collaboration with PATA and Exhibition Group demonstrates our dedication to strengthening the travel sector through meaningful partnerships.”

She further emphasized Plaza Premium Group’s long-standing presence in Hong Kong, saying, “For 26 years, we have expanded alongside Hong Kong’s aviation and tourism growth. We remain committed to enhancing the travel experience through airport lounges, restaurants, and premium services, ensuring a seamless journey for all travelers.”
