by Alice

Cruiseabout has officially opened its first store in New South Wales, marking a significant milestone following Flight Centre Travel Group’s (FCTG) announcement of its half-year results. The company highlighted the expansion of its cruise market share as one of its key objectives for the year.

As part of its ongoing strategy to double cruise and touring sales, Cruiseabout reported a 25% growth in its performance.

James Kavanagh, FCTG’s global leisure CEO, expressed excitement about the new store opening. “The retail start-up for Cruiseabout was one of our top investments in the first half of the financial year. We are eager to tap into the potential of the NSW market,” Kavanagh said.

Cruising continues to be a popular and affordable holiday option for Australians, who view travel as a key part of their lifestyle. Recent research commissioned by FCTG found that nearly half of the respondents plan to take a cruise in 2025, making it one of the top vacation choices for Australians.

The survey also revealed that value for money is the top priority for travelers, and cruising often provides good value, with meals, entertainment, and shore credits included in the packages.

Brad Kennedy, Cruiseabout’s general manager, highlighted the strong demand for cruises in NSW. “New South Wales has been our number one lead source for the past six months in terms of web traffic. Having a physical store here will be crucial for our growth,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy added that the success of Cruiseabout’s first four locations has been promising, but the company had been particularly eager to see how the NSW market would respond to the Narellan store.

So far, customer feedback has been positive, reinforcing the value of in-person, expert advice from experienced cruise consultants. “Our advisors are passionate about helping customers find the perfect cruise, offering a service tailored to individual needs,” Kennedy said.

Looking ahead, Cruiseabout plans to expand further across Australia. A new store will open in North Lakes in April, followed by a store in Mornington Peninsula in May, marking the company’s first location in Victoria.

The Cruiseabout Narellan store is located in the Narellan Town Centre and is the company’s fifth store in Australia.
