Cory Gale, the Director of Public Relations at Tourism Western Australia, has stepped down after more than seven years in the role. However, Gale plans to continue his work within the tourism sector.
During his tenure, Gale played a pivotal role in organizing the highly successful World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit held in Perth (Boorloo) last year. The event saw high-profile guests, including former US Secretary of State John Kerry and wildlife expert Robert Irwin, who served as guest speakers.
In a post marking his departure, Gale praised Tourism WA as “a remarkable agency full of remarkable individuals.” He highlighted the agency’s teamwork, saying, “Collectively, they are a remarkable team force that goes above and beyond every day.” He also reflected on his varied roles during his time at the organization, stating he had worked in five different teams, covering markets, public relations, brand, content, and industry. Gale humorously added, “I have worn many hats during my Tourism WA journey – plus a quokka suit, and even an elf outfit!”
Expressing his gratitude, Gale said, “It was a dream for me to represent my home state. A dream to show up every day with the same energy and commitment to move the dial, supporting industry. It has been the greatest pleasure – a dream fulfilled.”
Gale will spend the next seven weeks on long-service leave before transitioning to freelance work in strategic marketing and communications within the tourism sector. He emphasized his continued passion for supporting tourism businesses, inviting potential clients to reach out, saying, “I want to keep making a difference for tourism businesses in this country.”
