The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and its members are gearing up for the biggest event of the year. Tomorrow, the 22nd annual Cruise Industry Awards will take place in Sydney, bringing together industry professionals from across Australia and New Zealand.
A total of 75 finalists are competing for one of the prestigious 16 awards. The finalists were selected from around 800 nominations, making this year’s awards among the most fiercely contested yet.
Joel Katz, Managing Director of CLIA Australasia, shared that this year’s ceremony will celebrate the hard work of cruise line entertainers, crew members, and onshore staff who have helped make Australasia one of the world’s leading cruise destinations.
“We’ll enjoy spectacular performances from young dancers of the Brent Street Performing Arts Academy, along with incredible musical tributes. There will also be surprise elements that highlight the spirit of the Australasian cruise industry,” Katz said. “Above all, we’ll recognize the dedication of our travel agent community and honor the efforts that have contributed to cruising’s success in this region.”
Katz also noted the growth of CLIA’s travel agent membership, which has reached record numbers in Australasia in recent years. This expansion is evident in the diversity of this year’s award nominations.
“We now have more CLIA travel agents in Australasia than ever before, which is reflected in the fresh perspectives seen in this year’s nominations,” Katz added. “This year’s awards will feature new names alongside some well-established stars.”
The 22nd Cruise Industry Awards are supported by headline partner Qatar Tourism, with entertainment sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Line and an after-party hosted by Royal Caribbean.
