Universal has revealed exciting details about its upcoming Universal Kids Resort, set to open next year in Frisco, Texas. The resort promises a world of adventure for young guests, featuring themed lands inspired by popular franchises like Shrek, Jurassic World, and SpongeBob SquarePants, alongside a 300-room hotel designed to immerse families in fun and imagination.
A Colorful Gateway to Adventure
The resort’s vibrant hotel will double as the park’s entrance. Inside, families will find a central hub with shaded lawns, interactive play areas, and opportunities to meet beloved characters. One highlight is a themed retail space where kids can interact with Gabby from the Netflix series Gabby’s Dollhouse.
Themed Lands for Endless Fun
Universal has designed the park with young children in mind, offering a variety of themed experiences. At Shrek’s Swamp, kids can explore a playground “built personally by Shrek,” according to Universal. Meanwhile, SpongeBob SquarePants fans can visit Bikini Bottom, where they’ll meet SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy Cheeks, and Squidward. Guests can even earn a boating license and relax on a beach featuring floating bubbles.
Minions Mayhem and Dinosaur Adventures
The mischievous Minions from Illumination’s Despicable Me will have their own area, transforming a “peaceful vacation retreat” into a chaotic, water-soaked playground. Guests can either join in the fun or sit back and watch the Minions’ antics.
For dinosaur enthusiasts, the Jurassic World section will bring prehistoric creatures to life through interactive experiences. Universal promises guests will encounter dinosaurs in “uniquely exciting ways.”
Music, Games, and Sensory Fun
DreamWorks’ Trolls will host a lively music festival where families can sing and dance with Poppy, Branch, and their Troll friends. Additionally, Puss in Boots will lead a “kitty adoption drive” in an area featuring carnival games, festive food, rides, and a sensory garden for a calming retreat.
A Place for Kids to Explore and Imagine
Sarah Gibbon, vice president and executive producer of Universal Creative, emphasized the resort’s focus on creating a space where kids can explore and interact with their favorite stories. “We designed a place especially for kids, where they can adventure with their families and friends while being fully immersed in stories filled with curiosity, laughter, and joy,” she said.
The Universal Kids Resort is poised to become a must-visit destination for families, offering a unique blend of play, imagination, and beloved characters when it opens in 2024.
