Morocco’s tourism industry continues to demonstrate its robust growth, as the country achieved a new historic milestone with 1.2 million tourist arrivals in January. This marks a 27% increase over the same period in 2024, signaling continued momentum in the sector.
The Moroccan Ministry of Tourism highlighted that this is the first time the country has surpassed the symbolic threshold of one million tourists in January, underscoring the sector’s strong performance at the start of 2025.
The total number of arrivals in January increased by approximately 272,000 compared to January 2024. The Ministry attributes this growth to various initiatives and campaigns aimed at boosting Morocco’s global presence as a top-tier tourist destination.
Tourism Minister Farim Zahra Ammor emphasized that these figures affirm Morocco’s status as a “true four-season destination” and mark a significant achievement in the country’s tourism strategy.
In 2024, Morocco welcomed a total of 17.4 million visitors, a 20% increase from 2023, reflecting the nation’s growing appeal. A major contributor to this surge in visitors was Moroccans residing abroad, particularly during the summer months.
Additionally, Morocco’s tourism sector generated $11.1 billion in revenue in 2024, a 7.5% increase from the previous year, further underscoring the industry’s strength.
Looking ahead, Morocco aims to attract 26 million tourists by 2030, a target that appears increasingly achievable, particularly with the upcoming hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations and the country’s role in co-organizing the 2030 World Cup.
