American Airlines Expands Caribbean Routes with Eight New Flights This Winter

by Alice

American Airlines is expanding its Caribbean network with the addition of eight new routes, offering more options for winter travelers seeking warm-weather destinations.

Starting December 5, American will launch a new daily flight from Miami to La Romana, Dominican Republic, making it the only U.S. airline to offer direct service to this destination. The route will be operated on an Airbus A319 aircraft.

“Customers will have more reasons to choose American than ever before for nonstop fun in the sun this year,” said Brian Znotins, American’s senior vice president of network and schedule planning. “We are excited to continue growing our network to the region with more flights this winter to the Caribbean and Latin America than any other U.S. carrier ever.”

Overall, American Airlines will increase its departures by 11% this winter compared to the same period last year. This includes additional frequencies on popular routes, such as twice-daily service from Chicago to Los Cabos between December 19 and January 6, 2025, and daily service from Dallas to Nassau starting December 5.

This expansion coincides with American’s plans to introduce a new “preferred” front-row suite in its Flagship business class on the new Boeing 787-9 aircraft and retrofitted 777-300 aircraft. Additionally, the airline recently enhanced its loyalty program, offering “members-only” benefits for AAdvantage frequent fliers, including free same-day standby for earlier domestic flights and free 24-hour ticket holds.
